| NOTE: All trellis designs shown on the trellis page can be modified to become an arbor. You can select two matching trellises which we will then "top" with a custom arched, flat or pyramid top thus forming an arbor (e-mail for pricing). Shown several images below is the Dahlia Arbor created by joining two Dahlia Trellises as shown on our Trellises page. Soon to be posted is an all new Pisces Arbor created from two Pisces trellis and joined with a lovely braided arch. All heights quoted for arbors are the aboveground height. Each arbor comes with a set of 2-foot long supports to securely anchor the structure in place. Also, any arbor can have a finial or adornment such as a copper rose, dragonfly, fish etc. added to it from our Accessories pages. If you are growing extremely "woody" vines such as grape vine or wisteria, please call or e-mail for the extra up-charge to the structure of your choice. Please remember we do specialize in custom fabrication in copper of anything you can think of. Some people dream in color, at GI Designs we dream in copper! |
This
simple yet elegant Monet-Style Arbor can be just the right structure
in the garden. With its gracefully bent arch and clean horizontal ladder
supports, it can be fabricated in any size you should need.
Purchase two, three or more to create a "tunnel" type pergola to another separate"room" of your garden. This gardening technique can be deployed to make even small landscapes seem very large.
Our standard Monet Arbor is 4-ft. wide x 2-ft. deep x 8.5-ft. high.

The
Vineyard Arbor was the highlight of the 2001 Denver Spring Home
and Patio Show. A braided arch tops side panels with a unique, rhythmic
detail to the centers (see photo). One of our hanging copper bell lights
(model SL-10, see Outdoor Lighting) beautifully illuminated the pathway.
A side panel on its own would make a dramatic trellis.
The Vineyard Arbor measures 5 feet wide, 32 inches deep and 8.5 feet high.

The Lewis Arch also made its debut at the 2001
Denver Spring Home and Patio Show and was a big hit! Use this graceful arch
to mark an entrance to your garden, to frame a doorway or anywhere you don't
have all the space for an arbor. Sealed wooden spheres create an interesting
decorative detail.
Two arches can be joined for the Lewis Arbor. The mirroring of
the two arches makes a dramatic statement.

8.5 feet high.

directly to the left is our Lewis Arbor with a delightful pair of custom
"branch" gates. If you would like a pair of gates on any arbor
on these pages, there is an extra charge and this option will add one
week to the shipping of your arbor order.
A custom pair of gates using wood spheres on rigid copper to mimic the side panels of the Lewis Arbor would also look nice! Just ask when you call or indicate on our online order form.

This Treehouse Arbor allows a 5 feet wide walkway and is 8.5 feet tall. The triangular base of each side support is 11.5 inches wide x 19 inches deep. Item#: Atreeh

Finally the Treehouse Arbor is here! So elegant
with its multidimensional four braid top and its patinaed "tree"
supports on either side of the walkway, that you won't mind at all
when winter has set in to view all of this magnificent architectural
accent! Or, if you live in warmer climates, perhaps you will decide
that you do not want to plant any vines on your arbor. Either way,

The Dahlia Arbor
Each side of the Dahlia Arbor is a pyramid inside a pyramid top and measures 40"W x 9'H. The arbor spans 4 -ft. over a walkway.

Finally! The Pisces Arbor.... The same great fun as the Pisces Trellis but this has the trellis side panel designs incorporated into an arbor with a top canopy of braided copper. The fish are at home swimming effortlessly in some patinaed green seaweed in each side panel. All the while, another larger fish presides above all acting as the finial to this whimsical arbor (see below). A copper "vine" winds up each support leg to meet the braided top. This artistic, intricate arbor would look equally at home by any body of water; a pool, a pond or even where you wish there were a pool, a pond, ....................! The Dragonfly Arbor definitely makes
a statement with its generous size and classical proportions. A touch
of whimsy is added with a large dragonfly perched at the pinnacle of the
arbor's pyramid top. Guests to your garden will make a grand entrance
as they pass through. Such a romantic setting is created by this arbor
that family and friends may wish to exchange their wedding vows beneath
its peak! Or, place the arbor over a hot tub and admire the beauty of
this structure as you relax in the warm water. Custom orders can be done
larger, even with the addition of flagstone or redwood benches. The dragonfly
can be plumbed to add interest to a water feature. The Dragonfly Arbor
is fabricated using copper tube, copper sheet and flat bar.

The Dragonfly Arbor was the starting point for this custom hot
tub surround in Boulder, Colorado. We worked with the clients to take
what they liked from the Dragonfly Arbor and incorporate it with the sun
motif that they already had in place in their landscaping. We are ready
and willing to modify any of our existing designs to create the piece
that is perfect for you!

Please note that we never use plumbing fittings to join our pieces unless you specifically request them. We believe they look good in a plumbing system, but not on display in or around your home for use as decorative trellises, arbors and other garden structures! Your garden structure from GI Designs Does Not have to be assembled by you using basic plumbing fittings; it is already professionally fit together. Our pieces are truly works of art, not a mass of 90 and 45 degree elbows, tees and other plumbing fittings used to make fabrication easy! We guarantee all of our trellises, arbors and garden structures for life!
Below, on the left, is an example of our construction methods building a Ryan Trellis (with optional green patina). On the right is a Ryan Trellis made with plumbing fittings. We believe our system of custom angle cuts or bends for the corners, and drilling and fitting of the cross members is closer to the clean lines of fine furniture than the "below the kitchen sink" look of the technique at right used by many in this field.
One of our founders was a Journeyman Pipefitter at Newport News Shipyard
and the other is a graphic designer and artist -- We know what you want
and what looks good! While both methods of joinery are sturdy and long
lasting, we believe that G.I. Designs' construction methods have the definite
edge in creating a work of art that you would be proud to display outside
your home or business. We do the work for you, we don't send you something
you will spend hours assembling, nor will you be saying to yourself that
you could have built our products yourself! We see nothing "elegant"
about plumbing fittings. You be the judge. The Difference is in the Details!
