Travel Channel’s “New York Luxury Homes” showcases interior design & decor of NY’s most expensive & elite properties from Manhattan to the Hamptons

Supplied by Maison Sijilmassa and revealed as the must-have interior design detail in an exclusive East Hampton estate on Travel Channel’s “New York Luxury Homes”, the company's exotic Kajal (black) fossil marble floor tiles are the lavish 500 square foot centerpiece of an $80,000 master bath retreat showcased in baseball card entrepreneur Dan Shedrick’s $12.5 million 11,000 square foot Further Lane Farm spec house. The estate is located in an exclusive oceanfront community inhabited by well-known neighbors like Jerry Seinfeld.

Hand-selected by Mr. Shedrick himself, when interviewed about his decision to install such an extravagant architectural element, he explained, “…it is all about the details…God is in the details…” Travel Channel’s “New York Luxury Homes”, which began airing as part of “Travel Channel Loves New York Week!,” unveils insider design and décor secrets of the private homes of New York’s ultra rich, from Manhattan to the Hamptons.

Not included in the Travel Channel “NY Luxury Homes” program, but also sourced from Maison Sijilmassa, is the Shedrick spec house Butler’s Pantry floor, where 200 square feet of Sijilmassa (brown) tiles were installed.

The complete Fossil Marble Ancient Seabed color collection features five luxurious hues including Hezhra (gray), Kajal (black), Sijilmassa (brown), Bordeaux (red) and Chocolat (dark brown).

The Fall 2005 Collection of home furnishings, such as dining furniture and bath fixtures, as well as tiles and slabs, are currently in stock in limited quantities. Fossil marble can be custom ordered in tiles, slabs, home furnishings (tables, sinks, etc), and unique decorative objects by visiting the company's website for product information at http://www.maisonsijilmassa.com, or contacting Maison Sijilmassa directly.

About Fossil Marble

Fossil Marble is quarried from the ancient seabeds of the prehistoric Paleo-Tethys and Tethys seas, now known as the Sahara desert. It is characterized by the distinctive, visible and completely naturally occurring presence of fossilized prehistoric marine life forms, known as orthoceras and ammonites, throughout the stone. Within each color, the figures of orthoceras appear as rocket or spaceship- or spear-like elongated cylindrical shapes. Ammonites can be identified by their circular nautilus-shaped spiral-esque forms. Physical and mechanical properties of fossil marble make it a premium selection for commercial or residential interior and exterior design, building, remodeling and renovation projects where an unforgettable visual effect is desired.

Previous Recognition

The Fossil Marble Ancient Seabed Collection from Maison Sijilmassa received a “Top 100 Building Products Award” from Building Products magazine, the “what’s hot” product source considered most valuable by industry professionals, by placing 57th out of 2,700 total products up for the award. Industry trackers and editors at Hanley-Wood Design Group publishers analyze trends and reader response rate to develop the most up-to-date decision-makers’ must-have product list each year.

Prior to receiving the “Top 100” award, Maison Sijilmassa’s Collection received recognition as one of the industry's “Hot Stones” by Stone Magazine, the leading trade publication for specifiers, fabricators and suppliers of dimensional stone. It was one of only five stones hand-picked from around the globe for this annual distinction.

What In The World Is Sijilmassa?

Sijilmassa (pronounced like see-jill-moss-ah), a national historic site recognized by the Moroccan Ministry of Culture, is the old Berber capital of the Tafilalet Kingdom, an oasis in the southeastern Sahara Desert region of Morocco. The Roman ruins and Grand Mosque, the central feature of this medieval town, dates back to the 8th century. All architecture and fortified villages and forts are made of unbaked brick, which require continual maintenance to preserve.

For additional information about efforts to preserve and restore the ancient ruins of Sijilmassa please go to the World Monument Fund Web site at http://wmf.org/. To view a photograph of the Grand Mosque located there, see our website at http://www.maisonsijilmassa.com/sijilmassa.htm
