“ As President of the San Francisco Bay Area Professional Videographers Association, Chuck Savadelis has long been recognized on the local level for his leadership as well as his technical and artistic achievement... ”
The WEVA Expo is the world’s largest convention and trade show for wedding videographers. The Creative Excellence Awards are the wedding video industry's most exclusive and most coveted award for peer recognition of outstanding wedding videography. Only one Gold Medal is presented in each of fifteen categories annually.
"Memoirs" was filmed at Hakone Gardens in Saratoga, California, where scenes from Memoirs of a Geisha were filmed. The tone and texture perfectly matched the Asian cultural influences of the bride’s and groom’s wedding. The WEVA judges especially enjoyed the subtle effect of transforming bare branches into an arbor laden with blossoming wisteria as the groom walked under the arbor on his way to meet his bride.
Roy Chapman, Founder and President of WEVA commented, “As President of the San Francisco Bay Area Professional Videographers Association, Chuck Savadelis has long been recognized on the local level for his leadership as well as his technical and artistic achievements. Now, we are delighted he and his wife Jewel have received the international recognition they richly deserve for raising the bar for quality in our industry.”
The Creative Excellence Award will be placed beside their recently acquired Telly Award, which they won for excellence in cinematography for their short film, "A Perfect Day". The Tellys are to video what the Oscars are to movies and the Emmys are to television. The Telly Awards showcase the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, and television stations. Judges received over 12,000 entries. This year's winners include NBC, Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Studios, Nike, the San Francisco 49ers, the History Channel and Universal Studios.
