Smart Building Products Now Offers Cost-Saving Corn Burning Technology for Home Use

(PRWEB) October 13, 2005 -- Smart Building Products, the online source for energy efficient product technology, now offers a solution to America's fuel crisis—cost and energy saving corn stoves for residential use. Energy engineer and Smart Building Products Vice President Eric Ackerly has provided many commercial corn-based boiler plant options to large facilities in the Northeast including Penn State University and the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. He now proudly offers this energy and cost-saving technology for home heating use.

“  Your house will be in good company.
Residential corn stoves are a cheaper and cleaner alternative to heating with natural gas, oil and propane and are easy to install and use. They require only a dryer vent through an outside wall and usually require less than two hours to install. After setup, simply pour in a 50 lb. bag of corn, light the fire and walk away. It is not necessary to keep an eye on the stove, poke it or constantly add fuel to it. Corn stoves burn for at least 24 hours, depending on the setting selected, which is based on the outside temperature. Corn stoves don't produce messy ashes like wood and pellets do, only a small clump that can be crumbled to enhance any lawn or compost pile. In addition, inefficient fireplaces can be converted with a corn-burning insert.

Over 10 billion bushels of hulled corn are produced annually in the United States, making it the most widely available heating resource, renewable every 120 days. An extensive and very mature distribution system and delivery network already exists to bring corn across the country for livestock feed.

"Corn prices have been stable since agricultural recording began in the 1800s and have even been declining for the past 20 years," Mr. Ackerly explained. "In our suburban area, a 50 lb. bag of corn retails at a local feed store for $4.00. Even better pricing could be available directly through farmers in more rural areas. One bag is enough to heat an average home in the Northeast for a whole day in the dead of winter. Based on that, $600 would take care of your heat for the entire season. How does that compare with what you're paying now and what you expect to pay for fuel due to the hurricane damage to the Gulf Coast?"

Corn heat exhaust is environmentally safe, CO2 neutral, and non-toxic. No additional carbon by-products are released during combustion into the home or into the atmosphere, which helps eliminate the buildup of greenhouse gases. If corn is spilled, it does not contaminate the soil or groundwater and would not require remediation. Additionally, corn stoves do not require special permits.

"Burning corn is an established technology brought to the forefront again because of rising prices of both domestic and foreign fossil fuel supply and the interruption of fossil fuel refinery production," Mr. Ackerly added. "Obviously, corn is the fuel for the future; former President Jimmy Carter foresaw this in 1980 when a corn stove was installed in the White House. Your house will be in good company."

In addition to large biomass boiler plants for commercial applications, Smart Building Products offers three corn stove sizes and models available for purchase with direct shipping options as an Amaizeablaze corn stove authorized dealer.
