| NOTE: All trellis designs shown on this page can be modified to become an arbor. You can select two matching trellises which we will then "top" with a custom arched, flat or pyramid top thus forming an arbor (e-mail for pricing). Shown several images below is the Dahlia Trellis, join two Dahlia Trellises together and see the Dahlia Arbor as shown on our Arbors and Gazebos page. Soon to be posted is an all new Pisces Arbor created from two Pisces trellis and joined with a lovely braided arch. All heights quoted for trellises are the aboveground height. Each trellis comes with a set of 2-foot long supports to securely anchor the structure in place. Also, any trellis can have a finial or adornment such as a copper rose, dragonfly, fish etc. added to it from our Accessories pages. If you are growing extremely "woody" vines such as grape vine or wisteria, please call or e-mail for the extra up-charge to the structure of your choice. Please remember we do specialize in custom fabrication in copper of anything you can think of. Some people dream in color, at GI Designs we dream in copper! |

As an example of our custom fabrication, this repeat customer wanted something besides a wall to separate two rooms inside the home. With the melding of three different patina colors, the texture of a braid, its abstract design and three whimsical dragonflies, we created an art panel screen that defines and completes the space yet still allows the openness that was desired. These coat "trees" on the left were fabricated for a local customer who wanted something a bit unusual for an indoor coat tree for the foyer. With its different patina color copper trees and corresponding aspen leaves and branch shaped heart design on top, we met the challenge. All four of these copper trees, or just one alone, would look wonderful in the landscape "planted" as a trellis or used as a metal sculpture! "What do these have to do with gardening?" These are different height all copper finials that we have been selling for years on our "Copper Cupolas"page. We think they make a unique and lovely statement tucked away in a garden that needs a special architectural touch! Plant a vine near their base and let it meander up to the top spire and watch as the beautiful copper develops a patina over time. Great for barren areas to create winter interest. This is a
great modern day interpretation of a classic structure! Our Grecian
Column can be installed in any spot in your garden to add a focal
point year round. It makes a lovely statement any place you want an accent
in your landscape. This model is copper-plated steel rod. Your choice
of three sizes (shown at left is the 84"H model). Top ring in column
can hold a 13.25" outside diameter flower pot. Comes with rods for

This Treehouse Trellis is an offshoot of our lovely Treehouse
Gazebo which can be viewed by clicking here. If you have a corner or you have
the space required for this triangular-base trellis, this garden trellis
could be just what you are looking for! The "tree" and its "trunk"
are patinaed a brown-black and is very organic looking with its branching
freeform shape laid over its' rigid uprights. Ideal for any vine or as
a stand alone work of art, it can be hand-crafted to any size you desire.

The Lizard is one of the latest additions
to our trellis line. This versatile critter can work alone as garden art
or scaling a wall as a trellis. Each lizard has its own identity and will
vary slightly from the picture shown. This design does incorporate some
plumbing fittings, which we disguise.

Please note that we never use plumbing fittings to join our pieces unless you specifically request them. We believe they look good in a plumbing system, but not on display in or around your home for use as decorative trellises, arbors and other garden structures! Your garden structure from GI Designs Does Not have to be assembled by you using basic plumbing fittings; it is already professionally fit together. Our pieces are truly works of art, not a mass of 90 and 45 degree elbows, tees and other plumbing fittings used to make fabrication easy! We guarantee all of our trellises, arbors and garden structures for life!
Below, on the left, is an example of our construction methods building a Ryan Trellis (with optional green patina). On the right is a Ryan Trellis made with plumbing fittings. We believe our system of custom angle cuts or bends for the corners, and drilling and fitting of the cross members is closer to the clean lines of fine furniture than the "below the kitchen sink" look of the technique at right used by many in this field.
One of our founders was a Journeyman Pipefitter at Newport News Shipyard
and the other is a graphic designer and artist -- We know what you want
and what looks good! While both methods of joinery are sturdy and long
lasting, we believe that G.I. Designs' construction methods have the definite
edge in creating a work of art that you would be proud to display outside
your home or business. We do the work for you, we don't send you something
you will spend hours assembling, nor will you be saying to yourself that
you could have built our products yourself! We see nothing "elegant"
about plumbing fittings. You be the judge. The Difference is in the Details!
